The street gets its name from the presence of a factory that produced lampblack, a fine, black and greasy powder created by burning carbon-rich substances, and that was used to manufacture rubber, paints, printer’s ink and carbon paper. Another theory is that it comes from the presence in the area of some illustrious members of the Dal Fumo family.
Along the street, we can observe some coats of arms, including the shape of a shield inside an Istrian stone circle
